About Christiana
Originally from Nebraska, Christiana Ostoich now hails from West Chicago where she maintains a private studio and performs with ensembles such as the Wheaton Municipal Band. Christiana is an active church musician, playing regularly in classical and contemporary styles and directing choirs and instrumental ensembles. With a strong background in audio and video production, Christiana loves to help other musicians record and share their work. Christiana holds a MM in Music Theory & Cognition from Northwestern University and a BME in Music Education from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Jennie Oh Brown. Christiana is one of the chairs for the 2023 Chicago Flute Club Student Competition.
Christiana has been teaching privately since high school. She also provides coaching for flute sections in area schools and enjoys putting together flute ensembles/choirs when the opportunity arises. Christiana prioritizes comprehensive musicianship in her teaching, helping students develop strong reading, technique, and expression alongside a thorough understanding of musical structure and historical context. She strives to help her students see music as a gift to be shared with joy.
